 Page Rank

What Is Good SEO According to Google?

When it comes to what Google wants in the form of correct SEO practices there are so many opinions floating around that you could post them all on your web site and never trip the duplicate content filter!

SEO frustrates many site owners not because it is overly complicated to put into practice, but because there are so many versions of just what good SEO practices are. For example let’s look at “Page Rank” and what it means according to Google.

Page Rank…what is it good for?

PR is just one of over 100 factors that goes into ranking a site. I have sites with a PR 5 with very little traffic and some PR 2 sites that get a lot of traffic. Keep in mind that page rank does not equal traffic.

Page rank is like having a great credit score but no job.

page rank arrowNice to have but it won’t put food on the table. Yes the higher the page rank the easier it will be to get others to exchange links with you but Google doesn’t give much weight to those types of links.

The only links that really matter are those that are gained because of the quality of the content on your site, which in turn gives other sites in your market a reason to link to your site. Yes, Google can tell the difference.

Absolutely the best SEO practice is not to concentrate on any one of the factors that make up the Google algorithm. Each ingredient is important but none can stand alone.

By order of importance would be…

1). Quality original and fresh content based on the keywords that your market is searching for.

2). Links attained through content exchanges with other sites in your industry or because you have become an authority site in your market.

3). On page optimization, things like using css style sheets to make the spidering of your site easier for the bots, <h1> tags, good keyword based <title> tags, and a visitor enhanced navigation layout.

4). Last but not least make your site interactive for your visitors. Static HTML sites will fall behind in the ranking game. Consider moving to a CMS (content management system) like a WordPress enhanced blog. This will help you achieve many of the above factors without the need for buying additional software.
