Are PopUps Truly Serving You?

You’ve made a decision that you would like to learn about something, so you do a Google search. You pick out one of the results that Google has called up for you and visit it. Then you have an unfortunate surprise if the page loads. Instead of being given helpful content that could help you find out more about your subject, you are presented with a pop up. This is an advertising campaign that refuses to be shut down no matter how hard you try–until you type in your e-mail address into it. Eventually you may shut down your browser completely because you get so irked. The manager of that website has gotten the better of you!

So many people really really can’t stand pop ups and they have a valid reason to feel that way. They’re irritating. They tend to be intrusive. If they play sound they might get you in trouble with your boss (or anybody else in the room). They make outrageous pledges. They need that you type in sensitive information into them if you want them to close. Some of them even deploy malware and cookies into your computer. There aren’t a whole lot of folks who actually like to be confronted by these annoying things but so many IMers insist on using them. Why?

The sad truth is that IMers keep using pop up banner ads because they actually work. They get the attention of the viewer. They help IMers build their e-mail advertising and marketing prospect lists. It has been confirmed many times that you will definitely not get as fine a result with a voluntary opt-in box on your sidebar or even into the primary content of your site as you do with a pop up. They oftentimes even provide direct sales. Sadly, these dumb pests truly get the job done a lot of the time so, unless someone can make a better tool to use, most Web marketers are probably going to keep using them.

Obviously, however that does not mean that the Internet Marketers have to continue using them. What kind of value is there to an e-mail address that is solely given under duress? Usually what the results are is the person just opts back out of your list as soon as they acquire the first e-mail from you or even your company. How great can visitors be when the majority of it clicks away because it is genuinely offended by your ad? Obviously you need to generate income, but is this really your best option? Can’t there be another option available to individuals who want to create e-mail lists and sell products?

The authentic truth is this: if you have a good product and you can present it in a good light, you won’t need to use a pop up. Concentrate first on setting up a top quality product so that you won’t have to make use of an annoying pop up to get the job done for you. Write your sales and splash pages in a persuasive tone. Catch the reader’s interest and then refuse to give it back through the strength of your subject material and copy. The real truth is that an online Marketer will only find achievement and profit online if he or she creates something that someone else finds valuable. No pop up ad can ever replace the actual value of your product.
